MATT TAPPER

AANA Chair
Managing Director, Global Markets Lion
Matt Tapper is the Managing Director Global Markets, Lion Beer, Cider and Wine business in Australia. Lion is the leading Brewer in Australia with great brands such as XXXX, Hahn, James Boag’s, Little Creatures, Corona, Tooheys, Heineken & James Squire.

Matt commenced his career in New Zealand with Mars before a stint in the UK with Dairy Crest. He returned to New Zealand, joined LION and has had a number of Sales & Marketing roles. Matt relocated to Sydney with LION 12 years ago.

He recently completed a Global Executive MBA, studying in Sydney, Bangalore, Silicon Valley & London. He is the current vice Chairman of the AANA.

Matt lives in Sydney with his wife Jane and 3 kids.

ANDREW HICKS

Chief Marketing Officer Woolworths Food Group & Supermarkets
Andrew Hicks is the Director of Marketing, Woolworths Food Group & Supermarkets
Prior to this, Andrew was General Manager, Marketing of the Woolworths Liquor Group (WLG) since his appointment in 2012.
In his time in the WLG, Andrew led the transformation of the BWS brand and extended Dan Murphy's lead as Australia's most iconic liquor retail brand.

Andrew joined Woolworths in 2008 as the National Marketing Manager of Dan Murphy's. During his tenure, Dan Murphy's was recognised as the BRW Outstanding Retailer of the Year (2012).

Prior to this, Andrew was the National Marketing Executive for Musica, South Africa's market-leading
entertainment retail store. Andrew has also worked in the advertising industry where he
held the position of Creative Group Head (Ogilvy) and in the publishing industry as a Marketing
Manager Tax and Accounting for Butterworths.

Andrew has a Bachelor of Social Science and Marketing Honours degrees from the University of
KwaZulu-Natal. He has also received a Diploma in Advertising (Copywriting) from The Red &
Yellow School.

A South African by birth, Andrew moved to Australia 10 years ago. Andrew is married with two
daughters.

JENNI DILL

Chief Marketing Officer McDonald's Australia
Jenni joined McDonald’s in May 2016 as Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for leading Marketing and Menu for Australia.

Jenni’s fresh thinking, passion for marketing and drive for strong business and people results will play a vital role in the next stage of McDonald’s growth in Australia.

Most recently Jenni was Senior Marketing Director for PepsiCo Australia and New Zealand. She has 25 years of experience in marketing, innovation and sales management with a strong track record of business results and people development in various local, regional and global roles across Sydney, London, and New York.

Jenni has been a member of Executive Leadership Teams for over 10 years, with an innovative perspective and a general management approach to improving business performance.

Her passion is in new product development and breathing life into brands consumers have lost their love and connection with, having done this successfully from KFC to Pizza Hut to Tip Top to Smith’s Crisps and recently at SPC. She joins McDonald’s Australia at a time when connecting with the consumer will be critical to the brands future success.

JEREMY NICHOLAS

Marketing Executive & Chief Brand Officer Telstra
Jeremy joined Telstra as Executive Director, Marketing in June 2016 and leads marketing for all Telstra's brand, consumer and small-medium enterprise segments.

Prior to Telstra, Jeremy was Vice President, Head of Global Product Marketing at Visa based in San Francisco, Ca. where he led marketing for all Visa's products, emerging technologies and new products globally. Jeremy also led Visa’s global marketing, sponsorship and onsite technology implementation for the 2014 World Cup in Brasil.

Jeremy has also enjoyed a long career in creative agencies as a strategist and leader for creative companies in UK and Australia including 12 years as Executive Planning Director and then CEO at BMF, Australia.

LISA RONSON

Chief Marketing Officer Coles
Lisa Ronson is the Chief Marketing Officer for Coles.

Lisa Ronson was previously at Tourism Australia from February 2015 to May 2019 and is a commercially focused Senior Executive with 20 years’ experience, across multiple national and global brands. Prior to joining Tourism Australia, Lisa held senior marketing roles for Westpac, David Jones, Visa International, Telstra and Carlton and United Breweries.

In 2018, Lisa and her Team won many awards including Mumbrella Team and campaign of the year, Team and Campaign of the year from the Australian Marketing Institute, Ten Cannes Lions including a Titanium Lion at this year’s festival of creativity. Lisa also won CMO of the year at the Australian Marketing Institutes’ Awards for Marketing Excellence, and was last week ranked no. 1 CMO in the CMO Magazine Top 50 list which recognises Australia’s most innovative and effective marketing leaders.

Lisa is an active member of the Australian Marketing Industry, including writing regularly for the AFR, and is AANA (Australian Association of National Advertisers) Board Member.

MARTIN BROWN

Director, eBusiness, Strategy & Marketing Nestlé Oceania
Martin Brown is the Director for eBusiness, Strategy & Marketing for Nestlé in Oceania. Nestlé is the world’s leading food & beverage business with iconic brands such as Nescafé, Milo, Kit Kat, Allen’s Maggi, Uncle Toby’s, Purina, Nan and Nespresso.

Martin joined Nestlé working in commercial roles in Confectionery. He relocated in 2003 to Switzerland to a headquarters role as Global Brand Director on KIT KAT and regional manager for UK, US, Canada, Oceania and Japan. Martin returned in 2006 as General Manager of Beverages looking after Nescafé and Milo. In 2012, Martin was appointed General Manager of Confectionery & Snacks.

Martin’s passion is for building brands, forming winning teams and leading change. Martin joined the AANA board in 2018.

SAM SMITH

Adobe Enterprise - Advertising Adobe
Sam joined Adobe as part of the TubeMogul acquisition having run the adtech business for 3 years as Managing Director. Prior to this, Smith worked for News Corp Australia’s NewsLifeMedia unit, as Head of Commercial Integration. Smith was also the Senior Vice President of Adconion Media Group Australia and held leadership roles at Ninemsn and Yahoo!7.

WAYNE GABRIEL

Chief Marketing Officer Toyota
Wayne is a marketing executive with 30 years of experience in the automotive sector specifically focusing on innovative marketing communications and brand growth that delivers tangible business outcomes.
Currently CMO at Toyota, Australia’s bestselling car brand.

His career started at Daihatsu Motor Co. before starting his journey with Toyota Motor Company Australia within the National Sales and Marketing team. He is now responsible for maintaining and growing Toyota Australia's leading brand position in Australia as the business transitions into its next exciting phase.

Wayne’s passion is about leadership, as well as marketing.

He strives to enable those around him to achieve their full potential with the shared goal of taking one of Australia’s most trusted brands from strength to strength through their mission - Inspiring human progress through mobility.
Grant Blackley

GRANT BLACKLEY

Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Southern Cross Austereo (SCA)
Grant is a highly experienced and well regarded media industry executive. His media industry career spans the past 30 years during which time he served in senior leadership roles at TEN Network Holdings Limited (TEN Network), finally as CEO from 2005 through to 2010. During his time with the TEN Network, Grant held key roles in media sales, digital media and multi-channel program development as well as being responsible for group strategy, acquisitions and executive development programs.

Grant was appointed CEO and Managing Director of Southern Cross Austereo in May 2015. SCA is Australia’s biggest entertainment company with the ability to reach more than 95% of the Australian population through its radio, television and digital assets. Led by the Triple M and Hit Networks, SCA owns 78 radio stations (plus an additional 8 unique digital radio stations) across metropolitan and regional Australia. SCA broadcasts 92 free to air TV signals in regional Australia predominantly under the Nine Network brand. SCA’s premium audio and visual brands are supported by leading social media, live events, video, online and mobile assets that deliver national and local entertainment and news content. Using its vast expertise in creating audio content, SCA has developed a new Australian podcasting network which offers listeners compelling original audio content on demand, available exclusively through the PodcastOne website and mobile app.

Grant is Chairman of Commercial Radio Australia and a Director of Free TV Australia.
