John is a recognised marketing leader in the Australian FMCG industry having held various VP Marketing or CMO roles with blue chip companies such as Reckitt Benkiser, Nestle, Kellogg and most recently, Unilever. Prior to making Australia home, John has also had broad international experience having worked in the US, UK, Canada and Europe.
John has a passion for brands and brand led growth and recognises that winning in today's marketplace requires strong commercial acumen and a highly collaborative way of working, collectively aimed at delivering both short and long term results. John is a strong believer in the maxim of 'sales today, brands forever' and he describes his approach as calm, pragmatic & approachable whilst being tenacious & decisive in commercial situations.
John has a long track record building businesses through brand and category-led marketing strategies. He is skilled in motivating and empowering teams to deliver superior results, often in turnaround situations.
Greg started his advertising career in despatch at McCanns in 1973. In Greg’s 40+ years in advertising, he has worked for a number of high profile creative agencies: DDB, Burnett’s & JWT. In 1997 he launched MindShare’s Melbourne office as Managing Director and has worked for WPP AUNZ/GroupM for nearly 30 years. More recently, Greg was the Marketing & New Business Director of Mindshare North America, based in New York for 7 years. In that time the agency was incredibly successful and was named AdWeek’s Media Agency of the Year for winning in excess of a billion dollars in new business!
Greg transferred back home to Australia in 2007 working in a similar role to the US across GroupM’s and WPP AUNZ companies. Greg is involved in a number of industry committees (Chairman MFA Awards) and has received numerous industry accolades eg. Media Person of the Year and Media Manager of the Year Asia Pacific, etc.
Greg also volunteers for a number of charities including UnLtd & MMAD (Musicians Making A Difference). Greg is passionate about nurturing and mentoring young talent and helps various industry bodies in this important area, e.g. The Marketing Academy, Mediaworks , MFA , Cannes Creativity Academy, Spikes Young Media Academy, GroupM Training & development programmes. Greg is a qualified Coach (IECL & CouchU) and a member of the International Coaching Federation.
Greg is also Australia’s No. 1 Influencer in the advertising/media category with LinkedIn for 2016.
Director of Policy & Regulatory Affairs
Simone Brandon is the Director of Policy and Regulatory at the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA). Simone leads the development of the AANA roadmap for the future of self-regulation ensuring the AANA is positioned as the authoritative voice in the advertising and marketing communication industry on all regulatory matters. Simone’s role is to defend responsible marketing across the full range of advertising platforms and industries. She is experienced in the development of stakeholder engagement and communication, policy, self-regulation, legal marketing review and reputation management.
Prior to joining the AANA, Simone was the Deputy General Counsel for Vodafone Hutchison Australia, having worked with the 3 and Vodafone brands for a total of 11 years. Simone has broad legal and regulatory experience across a wide range of business areas including sales, marketing, technology, customer experience, process improvement, stakeholder management and self-regulatory code development.
General Manager, Marketing
As GM Marketing for the AANA, Lorelle has a wide range of experience in B2C and B2B marketing across industries including media and entertainment, hospitality, retail and commercial property.
Lorelle joins the AANA from Screen Producers Australia where she was responsible for marketing and communications, affiliate partnerships and sponsorship, and Australia’s leading conference event for the screen production industry, SCREEN FOREVER.
Prior to this, she held marketing roles at World Wrestling Entertainment, Foxtel, UKTV from launch and Lend Lease. Lorelle has also first hand experience in SME business management having founded her own award winning organic skin care brand now available within parts of Asia.
General Manager, Operations
Emma brings with her extensive experience in large and small-scale project management with a background in marketing and communications. Before joining the AANA in July 2014, Emma worked for Screen Producers Australia the screen industry’s peak industry body as Producer, Events and Sponsorship. She was Account Manager for award winning design studio This is Ikon securing a number of significant and iconic brands for the company during her tenure. Prior to this Emma worked for a diverse range of organisations including cultural communications agency Jenni Carbins Marketing, the Sydney Festival, the Sydney Film Festival and animation and motion graphics agency Sixty 40.
Regulatory Affairs Manager
Marit Andersen is the AANA’s Regulatory Affairs Manager. Marit’s role allows the AANA to support Australia’s advertisers by enabling them to pursue their business objectives, challenge unwarranted regulation and providing them with inspiring tools and resources. Marit focuses on regulatory affairs management, government and stakeholder engagement and industry relationships. She will assist to manage the AANA codes, practice notes, guidelines and initiatives that promote responsible marketing. Marit will also provide member relations programs and services within the context of self-regulation.
Prior to joining the AANA, Marit was a Board Member and Acting Deputy Director of the Classification Board, Attorney General’s Department. Marit was responsible for the management of the classification of a large volume and wide variety of material, including films, computer games and digital content. She brings to the AANA extensive experience in interpreting and applying, legislation, regulation and policy. Marit has also worked as a journalist, presenter and executive producer for SBS Radio in Sydney.
Member Relations Manager
The lifeblood of AANA comes from its membership. It’s Angelika’s role to maintain a high level of communication and provide assistance to AANA’s members.
Angelika brings 15 years of experience in advertising and marketing to her role, including working as Account Director at AWARD (Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association). This advertising industry peak organisation is responsible for celebrating and raising the bar of creativity and execution in the advertising industry within Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Angelika was instrumental in calling for entries and then organising and bringing together over 90 judges from around the world to judge submissions, as well as organising and overseeing the AWARD Awards Annuals and DVDs, used in the advertising Industry for inspiration, learning and archival purposes.
Marketing & Events Coordinator
Jackie joined the AANA in August 2016 and works closely with the General Manager, Marketing in developing and executing marketing activities on behalf of the AANA for benefit, growth and retention of the AANA Membership. Jackie also coordinates and assists in the development of AANA digital communications and events throughout the year including AANA’s RESET Conference. Before joining the AANA team, Jackie worked for Deluxe Australia as their Communications Executive, where she managed company events as well as communications and marketing collateral for the group’s multiple brands across Australia. Jackie has a Bachelor of International Business Administration, which she completed in México, and a MBA (Major in Marketing) from UTS. She enjoys doing yoga in her spare time and likes to travel.
