On Wednesday 26 March 2014, 400 of the world's marketing community will descend on Sydney to inspire, share and debate challenges, issues and opportunities facing marketers the world over.
The AANA will host The World Federation of Advertisers for a week in Sydney in 2014 for the annual Global Marketer Week.
Two highlights of the week are the Opening Cocktail Party on Tuesday 25 March, which will open the week and welcome our international and domestic guests and the AANA & WFA Global Marketer Conference, Wednesday 26 March.
The one-day Global Marketer Conference (GMC) has become an important forum for marketing leaders from the world's biggest and most successful brands to debate the major challenges and opportunities being created in a dynamic market.
In 2014, the GMC will bring together 7 global speakers in a one-day event from varied categories and geographies. Conference delegates come to network, be inspired, and learn from the brands and speakers that will take the stage.
Global marketing leaders will be joined by Australia's marketing, advertising and media community in what will be a festival of ideas and inspiration.

Chief Marketing Officer
Michael Birkin, one of the world’s most respected brand strategists and marketing experts, took up the role of Acer’s chief marketing officer in October 2012.
In 1987 Birkin served as the CEO of Interbrand Group, the brand consultancy and was a pioneer of brand valuation. In 2010 he founded global marketing services company the Red Peak Group.
Birkin’s has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious brands including IBM, Intel, Shell, Nescafe, Chanel, and Gucci.

In his role as the Managing Director of adidas Group Greater China, Colin is responsible for one of the largest areas within the adidas Group.
Colin came to adidas eight years ago from the music and entertainment industry, having served as Managing Director for Sony BMG Music Malaysia. Prior to working in Malaysia, he developed a broad knowledge of marketing in Hong Kong and Australia through key marketing positions with Citibank, Ansett Australia and Telstra Mobile.

Michelle Froah is the Asia Pacific Senior Regional Marketing Director for Kimberly-Clark International where, as the functional head of marketing, she is responsible for marketing capability and innovation across the region.
Michelle brings to her role two decades of passion and experience in building brands and innovation from end to end. She joined Kimberly-Clark as the Global Feminine Care Director where she helped build Kotex to a $1 billion global brand.

Sir John Hegarty has been central to the global advertising scene over six decades but his message and passion has remained resolutely the same: when the world zigs, zag.
Sir John’s creative awards are numerous. He has been given the D&AD President's Award, was admitted to the US One Show Advertising Hall of Fame and in 2005 was given a Clio Lifetime Achievement. Sir John was awarded a Knighthood by the Queen in 2007 and was the recipient of the first Lion of St Mark award at Cannes in 2011.

John Kearon recently dubbed “the Steve Jobs of Market Research” is Chief Juicer and Founder of BrainJuicer Group PLC. For his role in conceiving and leading BrainJuicer, John has been recognized by Ernst & Young twice for his entrepreneurship: as ‘Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year’ in 2005 and the London region’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in 2009. BrainJuicer has been twice winner of the ESOMAR Award for Best Methodology, in 2005 and 2007, and John was awarded the Advertising Research Foundation’s Gold Award for Great Mind/Research Innovator of 2008.

Marc Mathieu is SVP Marketing at Unilever where he is responsible for developing the global marketing strategy, Crafting Brands for Life. The goal: to double the size of the business whilst reducing its environmental impact.
Before Unilever, Marc was SVP Global Brand Marketing at Coca-Cola, where he created the 'Coke Side of Life' global campaign, launched Coke Zero into 50 markets and developed their sustainability platform "Live Positively".

Ed currently heads marketing for Google Glass, one of the products developed inside Google [x], Google’s innovation lab at the company’s headquarters in California.
Until his move to California in late 2012, Ed was based in New York at Google’s Creative Lab, a small group of creative people leading marketing’s creative efforts, helping communicate to users the magic of Google products and the spirit of the people who make them.
Ed has run many major marketing, branding and design-related initiatives at Google, for YouTube, Chrome, Apps, Google TV and other Google business products, working closely with leading global agencies and partners.

James Thompson is the Global Managing Director for Diageo Reserve. He has worked for Diageo since 1994 in a variety of roles including President - Guinness Canada, Senior Vice President Priority Brands, Diageo North America and President - Global Marketing, Vodka, Rum and Ready-to-Drink categories.
Prior to joining Diageo he worked for Unilever for ten years in UK, US and Europe-based roles.
