REPORT

Be a Member of Marketing’s Future

Welcome to the 2025 AANA Member Value Report. This document is a celebration of our collective strength and a detailed account of the work done, by and for you, our members, to champion responsible, effective, and sustainable marketing in Australia.

The past year has been one of both significant challenges and inspiring achievements. The AANA, powered by our community, has acted decisively to ensure the marketing industry remains the true engine room of growth in our economy, while maintaining the highest standards to build trust with consumers.

The value we delivered to members in 2025 is built upon three core pillars:

  • Community: Built a thriving and supportive AANA community that sparked industry-wide connections and conversations.
  • Growth: Delivered top tier thought leadership, insights and professional development to help members sharpen effectiveness and drive growth.
  • Advocacy & Self-Regulation: Championed marketing’s role in driving growth and administered Australia’s world-class self-regulatory system — protecting members, maintaining standards and building consumer trust.

Nielsen Research Initiative

AANA commissioned Nielsen research with over 2,000 Australians aged 18–65, revealing that consumption decisions around occasional foods and drinks are driven primarily by habit, convenience, cost, and family routines, not advertising alone. The study found strong community support for mindfulness initiatives, educational messaging, and empowering parents as key drivers of children’s health. This independent data informed our advocacy and demonstrated the value of self-regulation to government stakeholders.

Sustainability +
Ad Net Zero

October marked one year since Australia joined Ad Net Zero, uniting the industry to reduce its operational footprint through collaboration across the full advertising supply chain.

A major milestone was the Global Media Sustainability Framework, a universal standard delivering transparency in measuring media emissions. This year also saw the launch of Every Brief Counts, a toolkit helping marketers embed sustainability into campaigns from the start.

Unstereotype
Alliance

In 2025, Unstereotype Alliance Australia drove progress through two landmark initiatives:

1) The Who’s Missing? Toolkit equipped brands with practical frameworks to ensure inclusive representation from campaign briefs onward

2) Inclusion = Income study demonstrated clear commercial gains, including sales uplift and brand equity growth for brands embedding progressive, unstereotyped content

“We believe that that fast food doesn’t have to be bad food and as a restaurant business that really focusses on clean, healthy food, we want to be represented as a business that isn’t just an ‘occasional food’ but one that everyone can eat multiple times a week. As one of the fastest growing QSR’s in Australia, I’ve found myself picking up the phone to Josh and his team often for advice and I know that their team can assist us navigating the ever-changing advertising market, so we’re excited to be officially part of the AANA.”
