Sustainability update

With the new federal government stepping up Australia’s commitment to reducing emissions, Australian advertisers are already contributing.

Individual members such as Coles and Woolworths have already agreed on specific sustainability targets that they are driving through their businesses.

AANA earlier this year became a partner of the WFA Planet Pledge which is a global advertising industry initiative aimed at supporting the UN Race to Zero by engaging individual brands and the Chief Marketing Officers through a range of initiatives and tools that you can find here.

AANA is aiming to establish a small group of members to champion the Planet Pledge in Australia.  If you are interested in being part of the group, please send us an email.

AANA has also joined with the MFA and Advertising Council to support the Ad Net Zero initiative in Australia.  Ad Net Zero commenced in the UK in 2020 and has the support of the WFA.  AANA CEO, Julie Flynn, said “the only way to address climate change is through collaboration and a shared vision, and that’s why we’re supporting Ad Net Zero in Australia.  In line with the new Australian Government’s commitment to increase Australia’s 2030 emission reduction targets, our industry is ready to play its part”.

We will have more to say about our collaboration with our partner organisations in the near future.
